Exercise Tips

Take the first steps towards a more active you.

  • Engage in physical activity as a family and with friends. Join a sports team or fitness class. 
  • Children need 60 minutes of play with moderate to vigorous activity every day, but it doesn't have to occur all at once. It adds up!

  • Adults need 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity at least 5 days per week for a total of 150 minutes.

  • If you have been inactive, consult your healthcare provider before starting a physical activity program.

  • Give children toys that encourage physical activity like balls, bikes and jump ropes.
  • Encourage children to join a sports team or try a new physical activity.

  • Limit TV and computer time and do exercises during commercials. 

  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

  • Make a habit and go for walks after meals.

  • Find time to spend together doing a fun activity: family park day, swim day or bike day.
